Anyone have any thoughts on Plaq Clnz? They had a booth set up at Groom Expo. We are considering it. Not sure if it's bad though if a dog swallows some of the plaque that comes off the teeth?

I love it!  I use it on cats only though and have had great results!!!  The irrigation is what makes it so great, you actually flush the plaque out of the mouth!  It is so easy and has made me ALOT of money in a short period of time!

Could you enlighten me on this product. I was not able to attend Groom Expo. Had my dog to Vet few days ago for routine and they want to clean teeth. Said that the brushing that groomer does is not removing plaque. Said to remove plaque and then brush for maintanience. How does this product work?

They are right, brushing does not remove plaque.  This was the exact reason that before PlaqClnz came out, I did not offer any teeth services.  Plaq Clnz DOES remove the plaque.  It is a two step process similar to PetzLife, but far superior.  I love this stuff. It is not brushing, it itself softens the plaque, so that when you use the water-pick tool, it flushes the softened plaque right off the teeth.  Sometimes it takes 2 or three irrigating to get stubborn plaque of other tms it comes off on the first shot! I refuse to put my fingers in a cats mouth unneccessarily, so the water-pick is prfect for me.  My 9yr old cat has her kitten teeth back now after only 4 days of daily cleaning (I irrigated once the firs time, then only used the gel after that!) and now I only maintain them about one a week sometimes less using just the spray and gel.  I am also seeing great results on my clients' cats.  It is very easy and very effective.  The worst that can happen is that cats with severe plaque or gingivitis, their gums will bleed a little.  Other than that, Its amazing!

This thing sounds soooo Goood!!
I have not seen it in person but really want to! I'm taking some pamphlets to show my vet. This is so much better then a groomer trying to scale teeth(which can cause damage and problems)!!
Any one here try it on dogs yet?

So if any of you use it....you don't have any problem with the dog swallowing the plaque that loosens? Anyone ever have any problem that the dog or cat had to go to the vet afterwards?

was also wondering if you have anyone sign any type of release form when using this? Unfortunately we live in a society where people are very quick to blame others and just want to cover all our bases before starting something like this in our facility.

That would be agood idea for ytu to do then Meesha.  My release for generalizes all of my services with a line like "I authorize Cattitude and its groomer(s) to perform the requested services at my expense.  These may include, if requested, blah blah blah...."Then they sign.
I have not had a single pet get sick from the procedure, in fact I tasted the stuff myself and it is completely tasteless.
Also, the irrigation PUSHES the plaque out of the mouth, so no swallowing.

I could see where this could work well on young animals but what about those with gum infection or those that need extractions. The vet where I work sometimes  puts them on antibiotics before and after they do dental work.

Yes britt, i is not for those cases, but it is to PREVENT that from becomingthe case.  I have used it on a 17 year old cat with fantastic results.  The owner just cannot believe what a difference it has made.  Even his apptite has picked up!
If there is something going on other than heavy plaque and build up, I of course do refer them to a vet, as this can often be a sign of something worse!
I have loved the results, especially since most of my clients are are at a great age to begin oral maintenence.
Ms, I am not sure how much the kit costs, I hope Twit gets on here, she will know!

Thank you epilady for providing our contact information. We had the PlaqClnz booth at Hershey and have received very positive and impressive feedback from the professional groomers who purchased the system at the show. For those who need more information about the product I will try to provide you an overview here.

How PlaqClnz works: The zinc technology has been around for 18 years. It was developed for the human oral care industry and has been used in the veterinarian industry as well. In very simple terms the zinc formula neutralizes the bacteria that is plaque. If you put a pea size drop of PlaqClnz Gel on your finger and rub it on your teeth and gums you will, within 30 seconds, discover that your teeth are slippery the furry sweaters that your teeth may have been wearing disappear because PlaqClnz neutralizes the plaque bacteria in your mouth, providing you clean teeth. Since bacteria causes some bad breath, your breath will be fresher and odor free too. The same thing happens with the pet, so now when the clients ask, "Can you do something about his breath?' You can say "Yes, I can!"

How is PlaqClnz different from PetzLife? PlaqClnz is different from PetzLife in a couple ways. #1 PlaqClnz is alcohol free. Many dogs with tarter build up will also have irritated or inflamed gum tissue so PlaqClnz would be more pleasant to use, no stinging. Zinc is also very healing and will reduce inflammation. #2 PlaqClnz has a neutral pH which makes it totally taste and scent free so pets will accept the product easily. #3 PlaqClnz main active ingredient is Zinc Gluconate, PetzLife is Grapefruit Seed Extract and Grapeseed Extract.

What is the difference between plaque and tarter? Plaque is the soft bacteria that builds up on teeth and as it calcifies becomes tarter, the hard layer that forms on teeth. Brushing can remove the soft plaque, but it does not remove tarter. And for brushing to be effective it must be done 2 to 3 times a day…everyday! So if you are already brushing teeth in the salon you can now provide a MEANINGFUL service in probably less time with far better results.

How does the Groomer’s System work? The PlaqClnz system is designed to benefit the pet, the owner and the groomer. The initial treatment is provided by the professional groomer in the salon.

The groomer directs the PlaqClnz Spray Solution to the teeth and gums. Simply pull back the dog’s lips and spray on to the teeth, be sure to spray back molars. This takes one spray each side, and the front teeth for small dogs. For larger dogs spray the top and bottom each side and front teeth. You never touch the teeth with a brush or scaler…simply spray. Within 30 seconds the dog’s bad breath caused by bacteria will be gone.

Wait 20 to 30 minutes for the active ingredients to soften the plaque that adheres the tarter to the teeth. While in the tub, use the PlaqClnz irrigator to remove the tarter from the teeth. The water lifts and flows the tarter from the mouth. You will see results the very first treatment, from removal of all tarter to some tarter depending on just how much tarter there is present. Your customer will be amazed!

Now that the teeth are clean and all or most of the tarter is gone, you want your client to continue the PlaqClnz program at home. That is where the 2 oz PlaqClnz Gel is used, at home, by the owner to prevent the accumulation of new tarter on the teeth.

PlaqClnz allows you to become more important to your client by providing a very important, non-invasive service that will provide a healthier life for the pet, avoid the risk and expense associated with anesthesia and provide you a new revenue stream.
I hope this information is helpful. I will address new posts as they appear. And please do not hesitate to contact us at the number and email that epilady has so kindly provided in the post before this one.
