Well, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I watched this insane video. I'll let you all decide for yourselves...

I have not groomed a wheaton as I groom smaller dogs than that! I did not find anything funny about it, found it to be rather sad!! They should take it to groomer and have it groomed more often!

I guess you're right. There really isn't anything funny about what this poor little wheaten terrier is being subjected to. I suppose I was trying to make light of it to ease the sadness I feel whenever I watch the video. I also get upset knowing that there is a very good chance that the reason this dog is being groomed by its owners is because of the year-by-year increasing mistrust the public has for the grooming profession. Like no matter what, nothing is as bad as leaving your dog at the groomers.

Just wondering and worrying,
Hindy

I thought for sure they were going to do a home neuter job too with those scissors, made me cringe.

I had not seen this post before... one thing came to mind... they really think that dog looks good?! and to think they put that on utube so other people may think its just fine to go out, get drugs for your pet then take kitchen scissors to them???

And we wonder why so many people just dont get it? I think that was 'supposed' to be a SCWT... sure looked like a mutt, as to the comment of the home neuter job... that thought crossed my mind too.

all I can say is that poor dog... enough said

I literally cringed when I saw kitchen scissors on the "grooming table". My guess is either these folks are incrediably cheap or their dog has been kick out of every grooming salon in town.  For most of my customers with difficult dogs, drugs and home-grooms are a absolute LAST resort.

I guess it's better though for the dog to have a crappy groom job than no grooming at all.

You know I think there's something about people that  choose wheaten terriers as a pet..and it's a lose-lose situation.  Actually lose-lose-lose: the owners, the dogs, and us poor groomers.  I personally could not watch the entire video - I was getting way too worked up.

Well I for one am a HUGE fan of SCWT ! Began with them over 30 yrs ago (top breeder that is) have so many who come to us now because so many groomers dont like them (or do not know how to groom them and the owners are not happy) AND being that I know this breed soooo well..... silly people see a bigger fluffy dog, think "COOL, Id like one like that" BUT they dont realize this is not a breed for the faint of heart AND they are high maintenance... well ... then again... that IS how I make my living isnt it???  LOL. It is not so dissimilar to a person getting an Airdale or Kerry thinking "cool!" then not working with the dog at all. YUP ! bring them on! All the girls at my salon say the same thing...I am the biggest Terrier they know...ROFL

I couldn't keep watching.  Those kind of owners are making the dogs WORSE off.  That dog was probably ok, until the owners made him nuts.  I'd be bad too.....

Wow the things people do to save a buck!!!! I think people that STUPID shouldn't be allowed to own a dog ( who is apparently smarter then they are)
Did anyone else notice that some of the matts were still there just chopped shorter?

I just saw this too.
Could not watch the whole video.
I do dogs that people have home groomed for years because of being cheap, not groomers mistrust. How do I know this? Because I ask em.
It's all fun and games till they cut a dog bad and incur a big vet bill. Or the dog bites em.

Wow, I couldnt even watch the whole thing. Were they really using kitchen scissors to cut that poor dogs hair! Why won't people just realize that if you take your dog to a groomer as a puppy then they won't hate being groomed! We go to school for a reason. To learn how to not only properly cut a dogs coat but also to learn how to ease them into grooming so they won't be afraid or aggressive. And I would also like to say that your dog needs some serious obedience classes. My dog hates when it's groom time but she would NEVER consider biting me an option. It just shows this couples complete lack of control over their dog.
Max I feel sorry for you and hope that your owners grow a brain and realize the damage they are doing to your psyche in allowing such poor behavior. A well trained and well behaved dog is not only a blessing to the family but a more balanced, happy, healthy, AND loved animal.
