Sandypaws, I just saw the "Who are you" link. I was raised in So. Calif also. Santa Ana/Newport Beach area. Love Norco and Corona. I now live in Virginia, we were bored one day so we moved! Been here 15 years. Would love to meet you and chat. Are you going to APF?  Julie K

Any other So. Cal or Virginia groomers out there?

By the way, I am for licensing. Too many chop shops in my area!

Hello fellow VA groomer.. I'm in Alexandria ~ APF?  yay, we are heading down too..  Hope you make it to the social.

I'm all for Liscensing ~ There is an article in this month's groomer to groomer mag, on a corp gentelman's perspective of our industry and how he thinks our industry should be structured..  Sounded alot like my words from the past.  It's worth a read..

Sandypaws, i had to laugh at you're comment. Just last year i took my new hubby home to England to meet the family...he loved England, he said the food sucks.LOL LOL . I have to say after not living there for 18 years and then going home for vacations that the food is just a tad blaaaaaa!!
When my family comes over here they really love all the restaurants and the fact that the food has taste is a plus.
I,m still a Brit at heart ...even have BBC America on the dish network.
Wouldnt live there anymore though.

P.S. I actually live very close to Mexico. San Antonio Tx..Which of course has a huge Hispanic population. I love it here.

Hi Julie, I grew up in Chino, CA.  My family still lives there... Now I am in Joshua Tree.  About 30 minutes north of Palm Springs.  I learned to groom in Diamond Bar, CA.  SO, Norco and Corona weren't too far from my stomping grounds.

Valley-Yes I will be at the social at APF. I haven't been before so I am REALLY excited.(I've been to Hershey twice) I am bringing a fellow groomer with me and she has never been to anything like this before. I am driving everyone crazy by counting down the days, hours, minutes till we leave!!!!

Sandypaws- The "who are you" link    I found it on another thread   It was an old thread where everyone listed their full names locations etc. Kinda interesting!
Love Calif. people and the busy life but not the place to raise a family. We needed space and pets!
We are surrounded by water and trees here. We get a little claustrophobic, I really like the open spaces! Love the desert and HEAT! It is too cold for me. I haven't been warm in years! But, I really love everywhere I've been. I guess I have multiple personalities!

Sucker4setters- Been to Joshua Tree. It's so pretty! Chino is great. We used to take long drives out to Chino to get away from the city! Now it is the city! We knew we were close when we could smell the cows!

However, the capable and safe groomers do well and survive for years in the business when the " book learners" fold rather quickly or realize that they need a capable groomer with them to teach them the ropes!

I think your right. We need to come up with rules and regulations if not for our selves and our industry, then just to keep uncle sam out of our business.

I think mandatory certification is a better idea than licensing.
