Making it small-dog only is a good idea - that way you don't have to set aside large areas to care for them. Would they have access outside, or would you need to walk them while they were in your care? I would definitely do release forms, be sure shots are up to date, have them fill in a questionnaire (eg, is your dog good with other dogs, do they have any allergies, do they have any medical issues we need to be aware of). Be sure your hours for the daycare are clear to the client so you don't end up twiddling your fingers for the 2-hr late person! Maybe have a minimum fee, so you don't end up with the "please watch my dog while I run to the store" crowd, expecting to pay just a couple of bucks. Hey! Maybe when they pick up, you could give them a coupon towards grooming; or offer a special rate if they have their dog groomed while there boarding! Good Luck! __________________ Everything happens for a reason. |

Those of you that have daycare, what is the average weekly cost for the client? I was actually pondering the idea myself but am not sure how well it would take off around here.Do you have the same clients every week? |

Thanks for the suggestions! We are only going to take dogs under 20lb and only for our regular grooming clients. We have a large salon and there is more than enough space for a small daycare area. We are hoping to do more than just have dogs running around, like basic training, daily brush outs, lots of one on one with each dog etc. Our grooming dogs are all required to have all their vacc's up to date and the daycare dogs would be the same. We don't have an outside area but they will be walked (with double leads of course). Pricing is a good question any ideas? |
